The Bridge Emergency Youth Services Program

Program: Transitional Living Program

Program Description:
The Bridge provides and coordinates emergency youth shelter, counseling and support services for young people and their families in crisis. The Transitional Living Program is residential housing and programming for 6 young women who live fro up to 18 months in a duplex with 24 hours staff.

Eligibility:

  • Youth 16-21, not in CPS custody (can apply 30 days before emancipation)

  • No criminal history

  • No major MR or MR issues

  • Can be pregnant or parenting

Other important information:

The application process will require:

  • Birth certificate

  • Proof of residency in US

  • Immunization records (TB test will be required if no recent test)

  • Physical, vision, hearing tests (Must be within last 6 months or staff will assist in locating services)

Goals of the Program:

  • Demonstrate a growing ability for positive self-care and setting/pursuing life goals.

  • Develop knowledge of essential life skills such as money management, goal-setting, housekeeping, menu planning/meal preparation, practicing wellness/good health, building positive relationships, accessing community resources/services, etc.

  • Build interpersonal skills through participating in nurturing relationships, belonging to positive peer/support groups, exhibiting confidence in personal values and successfully completing individual goals.

  • Complete requirements to achieve a High School or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).

  • Acquire employment skills by enrolling and successfully participating in job-training, a vocational or business school or an advanced educational program.

  • Practice self-sufficiency by acquiring job skills and maintaining paid employment.

  • Acquire and maintain independent housing.
